Firstly, and most importantly, a dog is a pet but it is more than that. A large amount of people, plus myself and all my friends own cats, birds and various other types of pets. For some reason however, all of us feel that there is a different relationship going on with our canine friends in contrast with all of the other animals that live in our homes with us. Dogs and humans have always had a special relationship and this link has always held the dog as subservient to it's master, us humans. Consequently, a dog has a deep-rooted motivation and enthusiasm to execute a function for our profit and to function for me. This is more plain in the working dog breeds to some extent all breeds do. Dogs really enjoy doing things for us throughout their lives and thus it is incumbent on us, now we own a dog in our house and lifes, to ensure that the dog has enough tasks set for him so he knows it's instincts are being put to good use.
On another note, it may seem strange but, there are a lot of people who do not like dogs. A select few of these people actually wish to get them stopped from being in from just about all places where the public go. This should be given attention by most mutt-owner in a big way as dogs have so much to offer humanity and one look at any Police Forces Dog Section or Guide dogs will hush up anyone who contends against this fact. Nevertheless, when you take a dog into your home, irrespective of how big or what breed, you also take ownership of a responsibility with other people with dogs and toward all canines. Unluckily, this responsibility isn't taken earnestly by some dog lovers and these irresponsible people insure that the big absolute majority of us responsible dog owners are often in jeopardy from ills and murmurings from the less discriminating citizenry.
